Honour Your Guardians, Teachers and Elders…

honourHi Everyone

The third Reiki principle states that we need to honour our parents, teachers and elders. Another version states: “Show gratitude to every living thing”.

Reiki is the energy of unconditional love. We know that all come from the same source and that there are only different expressions of forms and levels of energy vibration. Any positive energy directed to ourselves or others helps to heal. In a way we are all students and teachers of one another as we grow up. We share experiences with each other, we learn, we love, and we support each other. This principle is about letting every situation in life teach you something.

“Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for
tomorrow.” – Melodie Beattie

We should show respect to those who gave us life. Even if the relationship is not a good one, we should adopt an attitude of respect because in this way there is a greater probability of resolving negative feelings on either side.
Many people are our teachers. They may be older or younger than us. It is important to acknowledge teaching when we receive it, even if it is just inwardly to ourselves.

To care about them, to love and respect them is to honour them in the right way.

“For today and its blessings, I owe the world an attitude of gratitude.” – Clarence E.

With love and blessings always

The Reiki Principles…How do I understand them?…

reiju and attunementsThe Reiki Principles are an important part of Reiki learning. Mikao Usui, the founder of the system of healing called Reiki, had this to say about the 5 principles:
“The Secret Method of Inviting Blessings, The Spiritual Medicine of Many Illnesses
For today only, do not anger,
do not worry.
Do your work with appreciation.
Be kind to all people.
In the morning and at night hold your hands in prayer, repeat these words out loud and in your heart.
For the improvement of body and mind.”
