Breathe in…Breathe out…Aah!

breathe in and outToday I would like to focus on our breath. We take our breathing for granted and yet without breathing, we do not live. (Obvious, I know, but then why do we breathe so badly, robbing our bodies of vital, life giving oxygen?)

Through breath control we can regulate and direct the flow of energy through our body and auric field. Any good exercise includes breath regulation. Healers breath strongly and deeply to increase their energy and power for healing.

Many people in today’s world do not breathe deeply and use only the upper chest for breathing. This keeps the energy field weaker than it could be. Deep breathing from our diaphragm is automatic in children, but as we begin to block our feelings, so we cut down on our breath. Holding our breath or dampening our breath is the best way to stop feelings and to anaesthetize ourselves. The lungs are associated with freedom. If we dampen our breathing or let the chest collapse, we feel sadness. Our shallow breathing is related to our feelings of being trapped in a world we cannot control and feel very unsafe and unfulfilled in.

Breathing fully and deeply with our diaphragms helps us feel the power to regain our freedom and works to release the spirit of fear in which we are all held in this age.

Stand with your knees bent, legs at shoulder width, so that your knees come over your feet; or sit upright in a chair with only the lower part of your back supported.
Relax.
With your right index finger, hold your left nostril closed. Take a deep breath in through your right nostril.
Hold it.
Close your right nostril with your right thumb and release your index finger from your left nostril. Now breathe out through the left nostril.
Hold your breath.
Close your left nostril with your right index finger.
Release your right nostril and breathe out.
Repeat this breathing while pulling your diaphragm down so that your lower abdomen thrusts out on your in breath filling your whole chest with air.
Now you can add a simple mantra if you choose for each in and out breath – freedom, power, health.
When you get used to the feeling of deep breathing, you can do it through both nostrils any time.
Hopefully, it will become a healthy habit.

Energize your space…Which colours do I need?…

Chakra candles 3Colour is essential for our health. We need all the colours to be emotionally, physically and spiritually well. Each colour vibrates at its own frequency and plays a specific role in our well-being.

Here follows the seven basic colours of the rainbow and how each colour contains different properties for health.

Red: Vitality, Courage, Self-confidence, Stimulation, Energy, Assertiveness.
Use when you need to meet a demanding day, or when you feel drained of energy. The colour red provides the power from the earth and gives energy on all levels. It connects us to our physical body. Everything that is to be commenced needs the life vitality of red.

ORANGE: Happiness, Confidence, Resourcefulness, Warmth, Optimism, Creativity.
Brings joy to our workday and strengthens our appetite for life! Orange is the best emotional stimulant. It connects us to our senses and helps to remove inhibitions and makes us independent and social.

YELLOW: Wisdom, Clarity, Self-esteem, Joy, Success, Mental Clarity.
Gives us clarity of thought, increases awareness, and stimulates interest and curiosity. Yellow energy is related to the ability to perceive and understand. The yellow energy connects us to our mental self.

GREEN: Balance, Love, Self control, Nature, Harmony, Heart.
Cleanses and balances our energy, to give a feeling of renewal, peace and harmony. Green connects us to unconditional love and is used for balancing our whole being.

BLUE: Knowledge, Health, Decisiveness, Communication, Truth, Loyalty.
This is a mentally-relaxing colour. Blue has a pacifying effect on the nervous system and brings great relaxation. Ideal for sleep problems, and hyper-active children. Connects us to holistic thought, and gives us wisdom and clarity, enhancing communication and speech.

INDIGO: Intuition, Mysticism, Understanding.
The indigo energy connects us to our unconscious self, and gives us the experience of being part of the whole universe. Strengthens intuition, imagination, psychic powers, and increases dream activity.

VIOLET: Beauty, Creativity, Inspiration.
The violet energy connects us to our spiritual self bringing guidance, wisdom and inner strength. It enhances artistic talent and creativity.

There are of course exceptions to these colours. You may have a negative memory associated with a specific colour, and so it may mean something different to you. But that is a whole story on its own.

Chakra candles: I use the chakra candles when I want to bring more of a certain colour into my awareness, or when I have friends or clients requesting Distance Reiki for specific difficulties in their lives (Physical, Emotional, Mental or Spiritual).

Here is one example of how I use all the candles together. The rose quartz in the centre represents the people that I am sending Distance Reiki to (It really is just a visual reminder for me). When sending to more than one person, or to a person who is very ill, I light all the candles in sequence from the purple down to the red.

Another way in which I use the candles is when I am wanting specific help on a particular day. And on a day like today, writing blogs and trying to be ‘Oh so creative’, this yellow candle helps clear the mind and bring mental clarity.

There is so much more that can said about about colour and chakras, but we will leave that for another day.

Subtle energies…What are they?…Why are they important?…

aura 4When teaching Reiki, time is spent on understanding the basics of energy medicine. There are some who do not like using Reiki and Energy Medicine together as they say that Reiki is more of a Spiritual healing modality than a physical one. By dividing the human being into separate entities – physical, emotional and spiritual – we start treating ourselves as different parts of one being. The thing is-every physical thing I do has an impact on my mental, emotional and spiritual state. Every emotional thought I feel, has an impact on my physical and spiritual state and finally, every Spiritual experience I have affects the way I feel and behave physically. For me it is all one.

plant auraIt is widely believed that every object has an aura, especially humans, animals and plants. Another word for an Aura is an Electromagnetic Field. This aura is the subtle energy field. Physics suggests that every thing is energy vibrating at different frequencies, and that our consciousness interacts with the subtle energies that underlie and sustain physical reality.

EinsteinIn Western culture, Allopathic Medicine is grounded in the Newtonian view that the human body is a machine controlled by the brain and the nervous system. But, there is another approach to healing, the Einsteinian pattern which is seen in Vibrational medicine. This paradigm sees the human being as a network of complex energy fields that merge with physical and cellular systems. All matter is energy.
